It's really nice up there. The hiking trails are very well signposted.

Very nice view - from the lower parking lot the ruins can be reached within 20-30 minutes

Great view. Recommendable. Always from 10 minutes after a full hour you have 50 minutes to start up. Always drive down from z. B. 1 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. Parking fees have to be bought below. All in all a great travel destination ? As of 10 10.2020

Great view from above of the Alps and the Alpine foothills. From the northern part, you can see Neuschwanstein Castle in good weather and the Zugspitze from the southeast. The Falkenstein Castle Hotel and the Mariengrotte are located below the castle ruins.

Great place for a good view over the whole area. It's also a nice hike in the mountains. The ruins are in top of the hill and quite impressive considering the castle needed to be built by hand without any machinery back then.

If you are looking for a short steep ascent with a beautiful view at the end, this is the right place and if the gastronomy is allowed to be open again, there is a cafe / restaurant just below the castle ruins, even an entire hotel. The former Falkenstein Castle was the highest castle in Germany and the place where the last Bavarian king wanted to build his last fable castle, but that never happened. A corresponding model can be viewed in the museum below the restaurant. From the summit on the south side it goes first to the Mariengrotte and then around the summit back to the parking lot. Without breaks, the tour is just under an hour with moderate exertion, i.e. ideal for a short interlude.

Nice destination for a hike up to the Falkenstein. The ruin as such is currently closed but you can walk around it. From the top you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks up to the Zugspitze.

We liked the Falkenstein castle ruins. Unfortunately the gate to the interior was closed shortly after 6 p.m. So we could only admire the castle ruins from the outside. On a clear day, you can see Neuschwanstein Castle.

It's very nice there. Well worth a trip.

The castle ruins are really small and don't look like much. , .... BUT the view from above in clear weather is indescribably beautiful and the view extends to the Zugspitze. With an hour's walk you can get to the top or you are lucky and the access to the top is free. Before doing this, however, buy a parking ticket, otherwise the vehicle could be towed.

The ride up and down is adventurous. The view from over 1200 m height compensates for this. Those who are fit can also hike up.

Great view, but a long, steep climb - or by car with a green light, because the road is only wide enough for 1 car!

From the Falkenstein ruins you have a very nice view. The ruin has a very old history behind it. Fascinating what the people up there almost a thousand years ago. The ascent to the south is not easy as described. Partly very steep, sure-footedness is required. The Mariengrotto is very nicely prepared.

Four walls. No roof. Inside a pedestal. The ruin locked. A probably unfinished building by King Ludwig on a very beautiful square. You can hike around the ruin and enjoy a wonderful view in all directions from up there. A visit is very worthwhile.

Super great view of the area. You can drive up to the castle ruins on the private road for 4 euros (travel times must be taken into account accordingly / traffic light regulation) or hike up. In good weather you have an excellent panoramic view. In the hotel there you can strengthen yourself accordingly. Very nice destination.

View from up here is good. Nothing much left of the castle just the 4 walls.

Spectacular viewpoint from which to dominate the surrounding valleys. Very beautifull. The path that goes up from pfronten is however quite challenging and not for everyone. The last piece to get to the ruins is particularly steep and exposed, there is possibly the road that leads comfortably to the top.

Amazing historical place with awesome allgäu mountain view..??

Castle ruins themselves are not that impressive, but what King Ludwig wanted to build here is even more so! This project would have overshadowed Neu Schwanstein! It's a shame they stopped him ... at least in retrospect. The view is great, both of the mountains and the lakes around Füssen!

Most beautiful sights from very high up! But a bit dangerous with kids...no proper stairs and the ruins are being renovated at the moment.

Great view once you're up there. The castle remains itself is quite disapointing though.

Fantastic ruins with great view of the Alps and the valleys around. You can easily climb on top of the ruin for even better view and some great photo opportunities. It is possible to drive almost all the way to the top, but I would suggest walking. There are plenty of benches along the way with awesome views for you to admire. All in all, I am in love with this place and I will definitely come back.

Beautiful place with stunning views over the Allgäu. The restaurant is a treat - excellent food, very friendly service. Some tiny minus point: discussion about payment by credit card.

You can walk up via the fully paved road from the lower parking area. It took around 40 minutes with a pram. The way up to the ruin is stairs and you’ll have to leave the pram at the hotel. The castle is open despite what other reviews say. It’s 4 walls with a lookout platform at the top. Well worth it if you like history, ruined castles, or views.

Spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. I recommended hiking up from one of the parking areas. You can stop and see the mountain statue on your hike. It is stunning. The former castle on top is also beautiful.

Super nice View at the top but very small street by car to the castle and can only one way drive rather exited!!!

We walked up to the castle ruins and hotel from the Schlossanger Alp hotel, which is a steep walk that zigzags up the mountain. At some points you need to use hands & feet to scramble over the tree roots. It was a cold March day & there was a little bit of snow on the ground, which was only a minor problem until we got to the top. With only a few metres to go, the only way to the steps was covered in snow & ice, making it very difficult to get across without slipping down a steep precipice. It felt quite dangerous! We returned via the road instead which was much safer! The views from the top are incredible!

When you like to go down with a car, you can do it first 10 minutes every hour only!!!
